A cream-coloured ceramic mortar with a pouring lip and footed base, accompanied by a wooden-handled pestle with a ceramic grinding end. Both pieces are marked with the size number 2, and the mortar is impressed 'Made in England'.
Its plain utilitarian form and worn surfaces make an appealing piece of kitchenalia or an addition to an apothecary-style display.
Size: marked 2; this is a manufacturer's size number, not a measurement in centimetres.
