Carved Wooden Antelope Sculpture in the Chi Wara Style
Details & condition
A slender carved wooden antelope with tall swept horns, pierced details and incised geometric decoration. The elongated form rises from a small geometric base, giving the sculpture a strong vertical presence.
Its form recalls the Chi Wara antelope tradition associated with the Bamana people of Mali. This particular piece's maker, age, origin and history of use are not documented; it is offered as a decorative carving in that style, without a claim of ceremonial provenance.
Dimensions: approximately 40 cm high.
Condition: surface wear, rubbing and small marks to the wood. Please examine all photographs, particularly the slender horns and pierced sections.
One sculpture supplied. Books and other styling props are not included.
